I often have trouble getting to know new authors. Then I prefer to stick to what I already know because I think that’s good. New authors are then viewed through colored glasses and then I regularly drop out because I am not captivated by them. I know, it’s a problem and I’m working on it. But I didn’t have that problem with this book by Riley LaShea.

Behind the Green Curtain is an erotic story because it contains a lot of sex 😏. It does, but that’s not why I liked it so much. It is quite a peculiar story because it gradually takes three or four different turns in the book. In other words, I thought it was a surprising book.

The book tells the story of Caton, who is assigned a job by her sleazy boss Jack as his wife’s personal assistant. Caton doesn’t trust the job because someone like her boss must have an ulterior motive. Caton meets Amelia, Jack’s wife, and is immediately blown away by the beautiful Amelia. Amelia, on the other hand, seems to be a crafty lady and in no time forces Caton into a light S/M relationship where Caton has to play the submissive. I have to say that this setup came somewhat out of the blue. One moment there isn’t much going on and the next moment there’s plenty of cum, whether Caton wants it or not. But ok, I was still curious.

I was mainly curious about Amelia. She is an intriguing character. Beautiful, distant, but with a certain sadness. That got to me. What’s behind that, how does that fit into this story? And how does Caton get Amelia to trust her and give in to more feeling in their relationship? Caton learns more and more about Amelia and Jack’s lives and what goes on there. As a result, she also knows how to peel off the layers behind which Amelia is hiding. Riley LaShea did a good job of that: Amelia hiding behind apparent ignorance and Caton hiding behind apparent security. One pulled the other out from behind her protection in order to have an equal relationship together ❤️.

There is also a kind of detective-like story in the background, but I won’t say anything about that because I don’t want to reveal anything about it. Nice book!
