I am flabbergasted. This book by Eliza Lentzski is fantastic! Not that I am really surprised by her fabulous writing, but I am surprised she wrote such an amazing story set in an post-apocalyptic world. In truth, I am not really looking for stories like this in lesfic. I guess the main reason for that is that I didn’t think it was there. But, here it is.
In Apophis the asteroid by that name collides with our planet. It doesn’t destroy it, but it sets a new ice-age in motion. Samantha Poulson and her family try to survive in these post-apocalyptic times. They fare well until bandits destroy their home. Sam and her family are forced to leave the sanctity of their home.
On their journey they meet Nora and her father. They tell them that they are on their way to Eden, a place where proper living is still possible. The road is tough with a lot of challenges. But despite all of their hardship and the enmity at first, Nora and Sam are attracted to each other. In fact, along the way they grow closer. Even though Sam still doesn’t know if she trusts that Eden really exists. If it doesn’t, what would that mean for them? The world is getting colder and colder, food less and less, and people are becoming more and more dangerous.
I am a big fan of these kind of stories. Apocalyptic, dystopian, desolate worlds, it attracts me. Not sure what that says about me, but who cares. This novel made me happy ❤️. Oh, and I recommend you to read the extended ending!
