I would have read this book by Virginia Black if only for it’s cover. But this book wasn’t just beautiful from the outside! This was a fantastic read. Now I am a big fan of sci-fi novels and when there’s a lesbian romance involved, then I’m definitely in. Even better when it has a desolate setting, maybe dystopian or just plain misery that has to be overcome. No Shelter But The Stars has all that and more.

But do not despair though. It isn’t all doom and gloom. Far from it. This novel has some great character development. The two leads Kyran Loyal and Davia Sifane are true enemies. Being born in a royal family, they are both destined to lead their people. Their people who are at war with each other. When they crash land on an inhospitable moon (it really is), they are forced to work together to survive. Not only do the women grow to respect each other, Kyran and Davia teach each other so much more about life and love.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading No Shelter But The Stars. I actually wished it would go on a lot longer than it did. Then In the afterword I found out that this story is based on a fanfic. A SuperCorp fanfic no less called To Crave Your Blade At Your Throat. I haven’t read it yet but it’s high on my reading list ❤️.
